The NBA playoffs are coming to an end with the Finals right around the corner (actually, they’re tomorrow!) This year the games of the playoffs were either blow outs or extremely intense. This season has definitely had its ups and downs, but we’re not here to discuss the season or the playoffs really… we’re going to focus on the many hairstyles of the NBA players who just happened to make it to the playoffs.

One player who’s hairstyle definitely stuck out during the playoffs was DeMarre Carroll of the Atlanta Hawks. Carroll’s hair is normally always in braids, and he styled it up a bit different, at least compared to how it is during press conferences. He doesn’t just tie his braids back into a pony tail, instead he braids his braids back!

Here’s a few photos of how his hair looked during the Hawks vs. Cleveland series:

Now, maybe if Carroll put a bit more effort into his game, rather than his hair, the Hawks could’ve stood a chance against the Cavaliers…

Another player who took part in this year’s playoffs who’s hairstyle definitely stood out was Dwight Howard. When Howard was with Orlando Magic, his hairstyle was just a normal shape-up , but ever since he came to Houston, his he’s changed his hairstyle. Howard now rocks a fohawk. And it definitely looks good on him.

Here’s a photo of Howard when he was with Magic:

And here’s some photos of Howard now (specifically during the Rockets vs. Warriors series) rocking a fohawk:

Another NBA player who’s hairstyle stuck out during this season’s playoffs, is Dwight’s teammate, James Harden. Harden was unfortunately cursed by Lil B The Based God during the series, which greatly affected his game and is probably the reason why the Rockets lost despite coming so close to winning. (The reason behind this curse was the fact that Harden stole Lil B’s cooking dance, and didn’t pay homage to the rapper. Last season Kevin Durant was cursed for disrespecting Lil B by claiming his music wasn’t great, and KD is still suffering from the curse of the Based God).

Anyway, back to Harden’s hairstyle. Harden also rocks a mini fohawk, but his fohawk is accessorized with his extremely long and bushy beard:

Now, personally, I’m not a fan of Harden’s game. And honestly, I’m not really a fan of his beard either… All I kept thinking while watching the Warriors vs. Rockets series was “how does he wash his beard? Does he shampoo it?”

And the last player in the playoffs, who managed to make it to the finals with his unique hairstyle is Iman Shumpert. Shumpert’s been wearing the same hairstyle for a while now, I think since his sophomore year in the league. It’s this high-top fade kind of hairstyle, and reminds me a lot of Gerald’s hairstyle (Gerald Martin Johanssen from Hey Arnold!)

Here’s a look at the comparison:

This is Gerald:

 And this is Iman Shumpert:

See the similarity?! Shumpert’s high-top fade  is like the mini version of Gerald’s high-top fade!

These were just a few of the many notable hairstyles of this season’s NBA Playoffs. I wonder what new hairstyles these players plan on rocking next season.
